چکیده
Background/Aim. In the past three decades, focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) was commonly regarded as a part of obesity-related glomerulopathy (ORG), distinct entity featuring proteinuria, glomerulomegaly, progressive glomerulosclerosis, and decline renal function. The present study aimed to evaluate glomerular morphometry, clinical features, two-year outcome in obese non-obese FSGS patients. Methods. included 35 patients (23 males, aged 46.5 ? 15.2 years) divided into two groups: [body mass index (BMI) 27 kg/m2 (18 patients, 47.2 15.5 years)] [BMI < (17 45.7 years)]. serum concentrations proteins, albumin, cholesterol, tri-glyceride, creatinine were determined at time biopsy, 6, 12, 24 months after biopsy. Cock-croft-Gault (BMI kg/m2) Cockcroft-GaultLBW formulas calculated. Glomerular radius (GR), volume (GV), density (GD) compared morphometrically between groups. Results. At kidney biopsy 6 later, had significantly lower filtration rate (GFR) non-obese. After follow-up, there not any differences higher GR (109.44 6.03 ?m vs. 98.53 14.38 ?m) GV (3.13 0.49 106 ?m3 2.26 0.83 ?m3), only slightly GD (1.91 0.39/mm2 1.95 0.61/mm2) A significant positive association BMI (r = 0.439) found. 12 percentage reached complete remission (71.4% 37.5%, respectively; p 0.041), but no differences. Conclusion. Obese already function ones. However, after, this difference statistically significant. Also, groups with nephrotic syndrome.

متن کاملPopulation Attributable Fraction of Ischemic Heart Disease Associated to Hypertension in the Middle East and North Africa
Background: Ischemic Heart Disease has been increasing in the Middle East and North Africa. Hypertension is an important modifiable risk factor of IHD and play an important role in the epidemic of IHD. Hypertension is responsible for about 45% of IHD mortality and affects more than one billion people around the world. Objective: This study aims to quantify the population attributable fraction...
متن کاملGender differences in coronary heart disease.
Cardiovascular disease develops 7 to 10 years later in women than in men and is still the major cause of death in women. The risk of heart disease in women is often underestimated due to the misperception that females are 'protected' against cardiovascular disease. The under-recognition of heart disease and differences in clinical presentation in women lead to less aggressive treatment strategi...
متن کاملSerum cholesterol distribution and coronary heart disease risk: observations and predictions among middle-aged population in eastern Finland.
BACKGROUND The purpose of the present study was to assess the implications of cholesterol distribution and its change on coronary heart disease (CHD) mortality and disease prevention at a population level. METHODS AND RESULTS In five independent risk factor surveys (1972, 1977, 1982, 1987, and 1992) in eastern Finland, serum cholesterol was measured in 27721 randomly selected men and women ag...
